Nick Igdalsky began racing in Formula 2000 open wheel road racing at 16 years old. After gaining advanced instruction from the Bertil Roos Racing School, Nick competed in and regularly won several amateur F2000 races. Series officials were impressed enough that they offered Nick a position as an instructor for the Bertil Roos Racing School after competing in just one Bertil Roos F2000 Pro Series event.
Nick took 4 years off from racing and earned degrees in Marketing and Management from Elon University in North Carolina. After graduation he continued to compete in a handful of Roos Pro Races and SCCA National events.
In his first SCCA regional race, Nick drove a Crossle Club Ford to a 22 second victory, and while doing so beat every car in the faster Formula Ford class as well.
In Nick's initial SCCA National Formula Mazda race, he drove from the rear of a 25-car field to finish in 2nd place while competing against the Northeast's best Formula Mazda drivers.
After relocating to South Boston, VA, Nick began short track racing. During his rookie season in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Budweiser Pure Stock Division, Nick had earned awards for Most Poles (7), Most Wins (3), and Most Laps Led.
Nick's second season in South Boston Speedway's Pure Stock Division was marred by mechanical woes, forcing him to compete in three different cars throughout the year. Even with bad luck he still found himself leading the Division's Points Chase and narrowly missed claiming the Pure Stock Division Championship.
In 2006 Nick only entered 4 races in the Pure Stock Division but won 3 of 4! Those 3 wins still earned a tie for Most Wins in the 2006 season.
In 2007 Nick finished 5th in points in the Bertil Roos F2000 Series with 2 wins, and 4 podium finishes in only 7 races.
In 2008 Nick finished the F2000 season 3rd in points collecting 5 wins, and 6 podium finishes in only 8 races. Nick is currently ranked 7th in all time Bertil Roos Series wins with 9 wins and has 14 podium finishes in 21 career starts.
In 2009 Nick competed in the Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series Driving the #47 Mustang for JBS Racing. Being able to join forces and co-drive the car with his cousin Chase Mattioli was by far the most enjoyable season in his career to that date. Nick raced in 8 out of the 11 races scheduled and still managed to finish 21st in the 2009 Koni standings and 4th in rookie points.
2010 marked a new chapter in Nick's racing career and yet another new series added to his racing resume. Embarking on the super competitive ARCA Series Presented by Re/Max and Menards, Nick fought hard during his rookie year to finish 13th in series points and 2nd in Rookie of the Year standings with help from his sponsor ModSpace.
2011 plans to be a busy year yet again. Nick will be returning to the Grand Am ranks in the Continental Tire series ST division with ModSpace yet again by his side. ModSpace will be the primary sponsor of the MAZDASPEED3 out of the Freedom Autosport stables. He will also compete in approximately 6 nationally televised ARCA races beginning at Daytona Speedway in February. Daytona will also be the first race of the Grand Am Series in January.
Igdalsky, Michael's Way Form Partnership For Pocono ARCA 200
POCONO SUMMIT, PA - ARCA driver and Pocono Raceway Executive Nick Igdalsky has formed a unique partnership with Michael's Way, a non-profit charity organization, for the June 11 Pocono ARCA 200 race at Pocono Raceway.
Michael's Way is a charity organization that supports families who have children undergoing cancer treatments by helping pay non-medical expenses a family may incur.
Individuals, businesses and corporations are asked to support Michael's Way and this partnership by making monetary donations to Michael's Way for every mile of the 200-mile race that Igdalsky completes in the June 11 event.
Individual Mileage Donations can be made per mile up to 200 miles. For example, a 10-cent-per-mile donation results in a $20 maximum donation. A 25-cents-per-mile donation results in a maximum donation of $50. A $1-per-mile donation results in a maximum donation of $200. A $10-per-mile donation would result in a maximum donation of $2,000.
Guaranteed corporate donations will also be raised, with the two companies donating the largest amounts of money having their company logo placed on the left quarter panel and right quarter panel of the racecar for the race.
Donations can be made online at www.michaelsway.org.
Michael's Way will be featured on the No. 23 Fox Motorsports Chevrolet that Igdalsky will drive in the ARCA Pocono 200. The car is fielded by Wayne Hixon Motorsports.
"My family has been supporting Michael's Way for several years," Igdalsky explained.
"In 2009, my nephew was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at the age of 15 months. He is now three-years-old and has undergone countless treatments, procedures and surgeries during his fight against the disease.
"Michael's Way," Igdalsky continued, "helps families having trouble covering the tremendous amounts of personal expenses that families incur while a child undergoes treatment. Many family members have to stop working just to make all of the necessary medical appointments in order for their child to fight this disease properly. "Chris McElwee and his group at Michael's Way do wonderful things to help insure that 100 percent of all funds raised goes directly to the children and their families. It's a cause that is very close to my heart and we are calling for everyone to donate for every mile we race on June 11."
"Michael's Way was started in 2002 to honor my brother, Michael, who passed due to leukemia. I learned firsthand how hard the financial struggle is on the family that is already dealing with the physical and emotional cancer battle. We have an amazing network of friends and family who continue to support Michael's Way year after year. I am looking forward to this opportunity for growth so we can assist even more families of children with cancer."
Michael's Way currently works with three Delaware Valley hospitals, one Lehigh Valley hospital and two Philadelphia Ronald McDonald Houses. All money raised through our golf tournament, events, private donations and grants received from foundations goes directly to Michael's Way and the children, not to overhead expenses. The main purpose of Michael's Way is to help the families of children with cancer to cope with the extraordinary expenses that come about as a direct result of their child's illness. We try to ease the financial strain so that the family can concentrate on the real battle…saving their child's life!
Igdalsky is a veteran racer with a successful record in stock car racing on both oval tracks and road courses and in sports car racing on road courses.
He competed on the ARCA circuit fulltime in 2009, finishing 12th overall in points and finishing as the runner-up for Rookie of the Year honors. This season, Igdalsky is competing in select ARCA events that have and will include Daytona, Talladega, New Jersey Motorsports Park and both Pocono races.
In addition, Igdalsky is competing this season in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series in the ModSpace/Construct Corps MazdaSpeed 3.
